Passion refined into purpose.

Our Story Begins,

During the height of the pandemic, I, Ivan Velasco, was completing my music degree at the University of Houston. I set out to learn how to sew, seeking to create a suit. But quickly I realized the task was far more challenging than expected. So, I sought mentorship to truly understand the craft.

I was invited to what I believed was a tailoring interview, but upon arrival discovered it was actually a bridal alterations atelier. I embraced the unexpected opportunity, apprenticing under skilled mentors who refined my eye for precision and detail. That experience developed a profound love for craftsmanship, design, and the pursuit of beauty.

However, my desire to grow could not stop! I pursued further education at Houston City College’s School of Fashion Design, deepening both my technical and artistic foundation. Because of this growing mastery, I now serve as the Director of Fashion Design at Lake Travis High School—where I continue to blend education, artistry, and inspiration while also working my passion project:

The House of Velasco.

My mission is simple: To be a world class provider that elevates people.

Because of my deep-rooted passion for uplifting others—not just through their wardrobe, but through their mindset—I began sharing my message beyond the studio. I started a YouTube channel dedicated to positive mindset talks and began expressing my creativity through designing and collecting stickers. Each design is meant to bring a touch of joy and serve as a gentle reminder that there is always light, even when the road feels dark. I am also growing in the realm of public speaking by attending Toastmasters meetings, continuing to refine my voice and fulfill my calling to help people see the best within themselves.

Outside of the studio, I find joy by spending time with my lovely fiancée, Elizabeth—reading books, building Lego, designing stickers and caring for our gecko, Banana Bread.

My Mission is simple:

To be a world class provider that elevates people.
